Type Locality and Naming
Type section is in the Well Deragon-1. Interval is from 1252 to 1690 m and 438 m thickness. Khanna and Srinivasachari (1973) designated this units as a sequence of shales with intercalated sandstones encountered in the well Dergaon-1, present between the overlying Tura Fm, (Pandey and Dave, 1998). Lithology and Thickness
Sandy claystone. In the type section Well Dergaon – 1, it comprises greenish grey, jointed shales with intercalated sandstones and calcareous veins. Cores indicate the presence of non-calcareous mudstones with incipient development of fissility. The sandstones are fine to very fine grained and exhibit lenticular bedding.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
It unconformably overlies the sandstone-dominated sequence of the Bamangaon Fm.
Upper contact
It is unconformably overlain by the Tura Fm.
Regional extent
Dhansiri Valley.
